New Delhi, May 4: As trends released by the Election Commission of India indicated a lead for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal on Monday, senior party leaders expressed optimism that this would mark the first time the BJP forms a government in the state, the birthplace of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh.
Notably, the BJP is considered the political successor to the Jana Sangh.
BJP MP Vinod Tawde stated, “The victory of the BJP in Bengal is crucial for the security of the nation.” He emphasized that a change in power in Bengal would lead to significant changes across the country.
He remarked, “There will be no room for appeasement politics anymore. The people of West Bengal have demonstrated that elections cannot be won with false promises.”
According to Tawde, no election in West Bengal has occurred without violence in recent years. He noted, “But this time, it has been possible. I believe the entire country is pleased with this outcome.”
He added, “With Assam, Bengal, and Puducherry, the BJP will now govern in 25 states. This is a positive step towards ‘Developed India 2027’.”
BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh stated that the NDA has received the blessings of the public.
He said, “This mandate is for PM Modi, so he can continue to work for the poor and elevate India to new heights. ‘Maa, Manush, and Mati’ have wholeheartedly blessed PM Modi.”
Chugh further explained, “This is because during Mamata Banerjee‘s rule, these three—‘Maa, Manush, and Mati’—were weeping. The land (Mati) was stained with the blood of its own children. The people (Manush) were suffering from oppression.”
He asserted that the mandate in West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry proves that the entire nation stands with PM Modi.
He stated, “This is a response to those governments that operate with brutality. The country will function according to the Constitution, not based on any ‘jihadist’ ideology.”
Referring to Congress trailing behind in West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry, Chugh added, “These results are evidence that Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, will lose the next 100 elections as well.”
