Malda, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : BJP Member of Parliament Khagen Murmu has launched a sharp critique against the Trinamool Congress (TMC) led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Speaking to reporters in Malda, Murmu asserted that the TMC is gradually heading towards its demise, predicting a complete erosion of its political foundation in West Bengal in the near future.
Murmu accused the TMC of fostering a culture of corruption and violence, claiming that the party has established a systematic mechanism to exploit both the state and its citizens. He emphasized that these factors will inevitably lead to the downfall of the TMC, leaving it with nothing in the future.
In response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s comments regarding the arrest of Congress candidate Milan Pradhan from Nandigram, Murmu stated that the Election Commission will oversee the matter. He expressed confidence that the Commission would determine the facts of the situation and the actions taken.
Additionally, Murmu linked the withdrawal of TMC candidate Sanchita Pradhan’s nomination in the Nandigram by-election to Mamata Banerjee’s strategy. He suggested that Banerjee realized her party could face defeat, which would damage her reputation.
On the issue of Milan Pradhan’s arrest, Murmu highlighted that the government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, has introduced legislation aimed at curbing violence. He assured that action would be taken against those engaging in crime in Bengal, with no leniency for the guilty.
Regarding the Election Commission’s decision on the TMC’s name and symbol, Murmu stated that the Commission would make the final call on all electoral matters, including the allocation of symbols to candidates.
In a related development, JD(U) national spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan commented in Patna that Mamata Banerjee has approached the Supreme Court regarding the Election Commission’s ruling. He noted that all parties would accept the court’s directives, emphasizing the need for special arrangements in electoral processes when disputes arise over party organization and symbols before an election notification is issued.
