BJP Leaders Criticize Congress March to Supreme Court, Demand Legal Action

BJP leaders condemn Congresss planned Supreme Court march, calling for legal action against what they label as contempt of court.

Ranchi, October 12 (Daily Kiran) : BJP leader Pratul Shahdev has responded strongly to the Congress party’s plans to march to the Supreme Court, criticizing their request for a meeting with the Chief Justice of India (CJI) and labeling the event as a potential threat to constitutional order. Speaking in Ranchi, Shahdev remarked, “For the first time in the country’s history, a political party is attempting to besiege the Supreme Court. This so-called ‘march’ is merely a facade; if it were truly just a march, why are they mobilizing Congress legislators, MPs, and senior leaders from across the nation?”

He accused the Congress of seeking to create chaos on the streets of Delhi while exerting pressure on vital constitutional institutions. Shahdev highlighted previous protests by Congress, including their siege of the Chief Election Commissioner and attempts to disrupt broadcasting services, suggesting a pattern of behavior aimed at undermining democratic processes.

Shahdev insisted that legal action should be taken against those attempting to march to the Supreme Court. He emphasized that typically, the CJI does not meet with political party delegations, and if Congress has grievances, they should file petitions instead. “They are trying to create pressure regarding a matter already under judicial review. I believe there should be a contempt case against them; no political party has ever behaved in this manner,” he stated.

In a related note, BJP leader Vinusha Reddy commented on the release of CJP leaders, stating that they were granted bail after signing a peace bond. The three leaders, Abhijit Dipke, Sourav Das, and Ashutosh Ranka, reportedly agreed to refrain from any activities that could disturb the peace for one year.
