BJP Leader Criticizes Kejriwals Understanding of Emergency History

Hyderabad, October 11 (Daily Kiran) : BJP leader Prakash Reddy has responded to recent protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and comments made by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He criticized the organizers of the protests for not canceling the event after failing to secure permission. Reddy suggested that Kejriwal should consult senior leaders to better understand the historical context of the Emergency in India.

Speaking to a news agency, Reddy pointed out that the Supreme Court had denied permission for the protests due to concerns over law and order in Delhi, a decision supported by the police. He argued that if the protesters had any faith in the Indian Constitution and its systems, they would have withdrawn their demonstrations in light of the lack of authorization.

In response to Kejriwal’s remarks, Reddy emphasized that the Chief Minister was not a leader during the Emergency period. He noted that many in today’s generation might not fully comprehend the events of that time. Reddy advised Kejriwal to seek insights from veteran politicians about the realities of the Emergency, during which he alleged that the Congress party dismantled fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution.

Reddy also referenced Kejriwal’s ascent to the position of Chief Minister in Delhi in 2013, with the backing of Congress, questioning his political stance. He addressed the issue of leftist leaders being detained during the protests against Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation, mentioning that former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was taken into custody while attempting to join the demonstration at Jantar Mantar.

He labeled the CJP (Citizens for Justice and Peace) as a politically limited entity and questioned its membership and political identity. Reddy expressed disagreement with the support given to the movement by the CPI(M), CPI, and AAP, alleging that these parties share a common ideology aimed at destabilizing Indian democracy, national integrity, and the political system. He reiterated that the Delhi police acted to maintain law and order by detaining Vijayan.
