Bengaluru, August 10: The Karnataka unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) initiated the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga‘ campaign on Monday in Bengaluru. This campaign aims to commemorate the struggle for independence and foster a sense of patriotism among citizens through a Tiranga march.
The march commenced from the government school premises near KC General Hospital. Key figures in attendance included BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly R. Ashok, Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, and several other party leaders.
Vijayendra stated that the campaign’s objective is to honor the freedom fighters and inspire patriotism among citizens. He remarked, “Today, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, we have launched the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga‘ campaign across the state and the nation.”
He emphasized that the initiative aims to remind people of the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle and encourage every citizen to take pride in their country. Criticizing the ruling party in Karnataka, Vijayendra asserted, “We do not need to learn patriotism from Congress.”
He accused the government of shielding those who allegedly shouted “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans at the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru. He pointed out that Prime Minister Modi has set an example for the nation and urged all communities to work together towards building a developed India by 2047.
Vijayendra added, “Hindus, Muslims, and Christians should unite as children of the same mother and embrace patriotism to make India a developed nation by 2047.”
Meanwhile, Opposition Leader R. Ashok also targeted the party, claiming it has severed ties with the Congress that once led the freedom movement. He asserted that the Congress of the freedom struggle is different from today’s Congress. Ashok stated, “Congress leaders criticize the BJP, claiming the party did not participate in the freedom struggle. However, those making these accusations were not part of the freedom movement either. The Congress of that time is not the same as today’s Congress.”
He reminded citizens that Mahatma Gandhi suggested dissolving the Congress after independence, yet the organization persisted. Ashok urged citizens to actively participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign as called upon by Prime Minister Modi.
He said, “The Prime Minister has appealed to citizens to join the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign with enthusiasm. Let us all work together to make this campaign successful. The BJP has taken the initiative to bring the Tiranga to every home.”
Speaking at the Tiranga march organized under the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign near KC General Hospital, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy criticized Congress for promoting a “dog culture.” He alleged, “Congress claims that even our home dogs were not part of the freedom struggle. This is Congress’s dog culture.” Narayanaswamy accused the party of being controlled by a single family.
He claimed that a small group associated with Congress consists of “psychopaths” and members of a “tukde-tukde gang” who are unworthy of being called patriots. Narayanaswamy noted that even decades after India’s independence, anti-national and terrorist forces continue to work against the country.
He stated, “It is time to teach them a lesson. We must respond in a way that those shouting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ realize the consequences.” He urged people to remain patriotic regardless of Congress leaders’ statements, asserting, “No matter what Congress says, patriotism should remain in our hearts.”
Referring to the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, Narayanaswamy encouraged citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes. He said, “The Tiranga should reach every home. The saffron, white, and green colors should reside in every Indian’s heart. The BJP is working in this direction. Let us all follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal.”
Narayanaswamy also questioned Congress’s ‘Bharat Jodo’ campaign, asking, “What does ‘Bharat Jodo’ mean? Is it about uniting Pakistan and Bangladesh with India? Does Congress have the strength to do that?” He claimed, “Congress is trying to mislead people. In reality, the BJP is the one uniting India.”
BJP Karnataka co-in-charge Sudhakar Reddy praised the Prime Minister, stating that the abrogation of Article 370 has helped instill a sense of patriotism among citizens. The march saw participation from numerous BJP leaders, legislators, MLCs, students, doctors, retired military personnel, and prominent citizens from various sectors.
