BJP Candidate Rakesh Singh Criticizes TMCs Governance in Kolkata Port Constituency

Kolkata, April 17: Rakesh Singh, the BJP candidate for the Kolkata Port Assembly constituency, took aim at the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government on Friday. Recently released from jail, Singh has been nominated by the BJP for this seat.

Singh stated, “Coming out of jail and standing here as a candidate in Kolkata Port is all thanks to the party workers and BJP leaders. I am here to fight and win, and I will wave the flag for every BJP worker and supporter.”

He is contesting against the incumbent MLA and West Bengal government minister Firhad Hakim. Singh criticized Hakim, who has represented the area for the past 15 years, claiming he has done nothing for the people. “The roads are in disrepair, clean drinking water is scarce, and healthcare services are inadequate,” he added.

“The people need these basic facilities. BJP workers are going door-to-door to convey the message that if given a chance, development will follow,” Singh emphasized.

Attacking the TMC, Singh remarked that they consider Hindu and Muslim voters equally. “Our only issue is development, while TMC’s agenda revolves around insults, thuggery, and political violence. Their activities include tearing down posters and removing flags at night. We promise that once elected, people will be free from fear. Peace and development will return to the area,” he asserted.

Singh also highlighted key issues in the region, stating that strengthening public transport will be a priority. “There are no properly functioning government buses, medical facilities are lacking, and youth are struggling to find jobs. We will focus on these two or three issues first. We will build hospitals, improve roads, and create job opportunities for the youth.”

Responding to allegations against the BJP, Singh said, “The Bharatiya Janata Party is one of the most powerful and popular parties in the world. We have never claimed that we would stop anyone from eating meat, fish, or sweets. This is all false propaganda. The BJP respects every religion and community. People should be wary of such misleading campaigns.”
