BJP Calls for Fair Investigation into Sexual Assault Cases in Jharkhand
The BJP criticizes the Jharkhand government over two sexual assault cases, demanding immediate and impartial investigations.

Ranchi, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has targeted the Jharkhand government following two incidents of sexual assault against women in the state. Party president Aditya Sahu referenced a case of rape reported at the Gamharia police station and allegations of sexual exploitation against a priest in Godda. He expressed concern that women are facing harassment both at police stations and in the workplace.
Sahu called for a thorough and timely investigation into both cases. He stated that crimes against women are on the rise, while the government appears preoccupied with politics in Delhi rather than ensuring their safety. “If women are not safe even when seeking help at police stations or job opportunities, who is responsible for their protection?” he questioned.
In relation to the Godda case, Sahu detailed allegations against a priest associated with a mission. The priest is accused of long-term sexual exploitation under the pretense of providing a job, administering abortion pills when a pregnancy occurred, and later threatening the victim over medical expenses. A first information report (FIR) has been registered under case number 33/26 at the Sundarpahari police station.
Sahu also highlighted the Gamharia incident as a serious concern for police accountability. He emphasized that these incidents raise alarming questions about the state of women’s safety in Jharkhand. The government must ensure that no individual, regardless of their affiliation, is above the law.
He criticized the government’s failure to prioritize women’s safety and demanded the arrest of those accused, protection for the victims, and an unbiased investigation free from political or institutional pressure.
