Bhubaneswar, September 18 (Daily Kiran) : The Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Odisha’s opposition party, has sharply criticized the state government following reports of an alleged exam paper leak for the Plus Three second semester exams at Utkal University. The party described the incident as yet another serious setback for students and youth in Odisha under the “double engine” government.
BJD leaders claimed that during the two-year tenure of the BJP-led government, students and job-seekers in the state have faced 25 significant issues related to examinations. These include cancellations, postponements, and irregularities in question papers.
In an official statement, the party emphasized that the recent incident at Utkal University raises serious questions about the government’s ability to conduct exams fairly, transparently, and securely. They highlighted that students invest months preparing for these exams, while their families make substantial economic and personal sacrifices for their education and career prospects.
The BJD noted that repeated cancellations or delays, along with errors in question papers or alleged leaks, create uncertainty for thousands of students. This not only disrupts their study plans but also adds financial and mental pressure on them.
The party asserted that the alleged incident at Utkal University is not an isolated case. They pointed out that there have been 25 examination-related failures and irregularities during this period.
BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty stated that students and youth should not have to repeatedly pay the price for administrative and examination management failures. He urged the government to take immediate action to restore students’ confidence in the examination system and ensure that exams are conducted with full transparency, accountability, and security.
Mohanty called for a transparent investigation into every serious irregularity related to exams, with accountability established wherever negligence or procedural flaws are identified. He also demanded enhanced security measures for question papers, safe management of examination centers, and stricter monitoring protocols.
Furthermore, he urged a comprehensive review of the current examination processes across universities, recruitment boards, and other examination bodies. The BJD emphasized that the future of Odisha’s students and youth should not be taken lightly, urging the government to take concrete steps rather than merely issuing slogans, ensuring a fair, secure, transparent, and accountable examination system throughout the state.
