
Patna, May 13: The Bihar government has approved an increase in the Dearness Allowance (DA) for its employees. This decision was made during a cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. Under the revised seventh central pay structure, employees will now receive a DA of 60 percent instead of the previous 58 percent.
Additionally, the DA for those under the sixth pay commission has been raised from 257 percent to 262 percent, while employees under the fifth pay commission will see an increase from 474 percent to 483 percent. This adjustment will take effect from January 1, 2026.
During the cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, a total of 19 proposals were approved. An official reported that the meeting also sanctioned the creation of five posts for Superintendents of Police in five districts that are particularly sensitive in terms of crime and communal issues: East Champaran, Samastipur, Madhubani, Vaishali, and Siwan.
Furthermore, to promote industrial development, the cabinet approved the acquisition of 100 acres of land from a total of 1243.45 acres in Vaishali district for the establishment of the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management. This land will be transferred free of cost to the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India. The final decision on land selection will be authorized to the Director Council of the Infrastructure Development Authority, Patna.
The government has also approved the Chief Minister’s Bihar Environment-Friendly Transport Employment Scheme. The primary aim of this initiative is to reduce vehicle-generated pollution and ensure that at least 30 percent of new vehicle sales consist of electric vehicles by 2030.
This initiative will support the global “EV30@30” campaign. The government believes that this plan will enhance public acceptance of electric vehicles, provide electric vehicle facilities for rural transport, and create job opportunities through commercial electric vehicles.
Additionally, the state government has taken significant steps to position Bihar as a leader in artificial intelligence. Under the “Bihar Artificial Intelligence Mission,” the Singapore-based organization “Global Finance and Technology Network” has been selected to assist in strengthening the AI ecosystem, skill development, and innovation in the state.
The meeting also granted administrative approval for a total of ₹209 crore for the implementation of the Aryabhatta Vision Project.
