Bhuvneshwar Kumars Return Raises Eyebrows After Disappointing Performance
Bhuvneshwar Kumars comeback to the Indian cricket team has been under scrutiny following a lackluster performance in the T20 series against New Zealand.

New Delhi, October 31 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian cricket team faced a heavy defeat against New Zealand in the fourth T20 match held in Auckland, losing by 87 runs. Notably absent from the lineup was fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who had returned to the team after a four-year hiatus. His performance in the initial three matches of the series had been disappointing, leading to his exclusion in favor of Mayank Yadav for this match.
Former Indian opener and renowned commentator Aakash Chopra has questioned Bhuvneshwar’s return, stating that it has not met the expectations of fans and management alike. In a video on his YouTube channel, Chopra pointed out that Bhuvneshwar’s struggles have raised concerns. He noted that due to an injury, Prasidh Krishna was not selected for the ODI team, and Bhuvneshwar’s poor showing in the T20 matches resulted in his omission from the playing eleven.
Chopra emphasized that the decision to bench Bhuvneshwar for the fourth T20 only deepened the doubts surrounding his comeback, remarking, “His return has not aligned with what Indian fans had hoped for.”
The Indian bowling attack, even without Bhuvneshwar, faltered significantly, conceding 259 runs. Chasing a target of 260, the Indian team could only score 172 runs, sealing their fate with a substantial defeat.
If Bhuvneshwar does not play in the fifth T20 match, questions will arise regarding the future of his international T20 career. The series will conclude with the fifth T20 match scheduled for November 1 in Hamilton. India currently leads the series 3-1, while New Zealand aims to secure a win to finish at 3-2, and India seeks a decisive 4-1 victory.
