The Incident

On September 18, near Bhoolbhoolaiya Chauraha on NH-27, Sanjay Meena (35) and his mother Rukmani Bai were intentionally crushed to death by a car coming from the wrong side. Initially believed to be an accident, investigations later revealed it was a pre-planned murder fueled by a long-standing land dispute between the victim’s family and that of Purushottam Meena.

According to the complaint, the families had been embroiled in conflict for several years, with more than ten criminal cases filed against each other. The enmity dates back to 2019, when Purushottam Meena’s brother Mukut Meena was killed in a related incident.

The Conspiracy and Arrest

On the day of the murder, Sanjay and his mother were on their way to court to testify in one of the pending cases. Taking advantage of this, Purushottam Meena, along with Shishupal Meena, Chandraprakash Meena, and Chandramohan Meena, allegedly conspired to eliminate them. They sent Vinod alias Monu Meena, Deshraj Bairwa, Kamal alias Golu Bairwa, and Neeraj Lashkari in a car to execute the plan.

The accused intentionally rammed the vehicle into the victims and then reversed it several times, ensuring their death on the spot.

Police Operation

Given the brutality of the crime, Additional SP Rajesh Chaudhary and Circle Officer Omendra Singh Shekhawat supervised the investigation, forming five special teams to track down the culprits. Four of the conspirators had already been arrested earlier, while the four key executors remained absconding.

Acting on a tip-off, the District Special Team traced their location to the forests near Kishanganj. With relentless efforts by Kotwali SHO Yogesh Chauhan and his team, all four were arrested from the Ramgarh forest area.

The arrests mark a major success for Baran Police, who have been working consistently to crack down on organized and violent crimes in the region.
