Baramulla Police File Case Against Two for Mule Bank Account Transactions
Baramulla police have registered a case against two individuals for using mule bank accounts to facilitate illegal financial transactions.

Baramulla, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : Baramulla police have taken significant action against cybercrime by filing a case against two individuals for their involvement in using mule bank accounts. This case, registered at the Cyber Police Station in Jammu and Kashmir, alleges that the accused were utilizing these accounts to receive, hold, and transfer illicit funds.
Mule bank accounts are often exploited by cybercriminals, fraudsters, and money launderers to transfer or conceal illegally obtained money, such as proceeds from cyber fraud, phishing scams, or digital theft.
The First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged under Section 318(4) and Section 61(2) of the Indian Penal Code, as well as Section 66(C) of the Information Technology Act. The accused have been identified as Mohsin Ashraf Ghani, a resident of Gulshanabad, and Sahil Irshad, who resides in Khanpora, Baramulla, and is currently living in Chaklu.
This case emerged following information indicating that mule bank accounts were being used to facilitate the movement of illegal money both within and outside Jammu and Kashmir. Such accounts can obscure the sources and transactions of suspicious activities, posing significant challenges in detecting and preventing financial crimes linked to cyber offenses.
The investigation is ongoing, aiming to uncover the full extent of the financial transactions, establish the personal roles of those involved, and identify any other individuals or networks connected to this case.
Police have reiterated their commitment to taking stringent legal action against cybercrime and financial fraud. The public has been advised not to share their bank account details, ATM cards, banking credentials, or access with unknown individuals, as such practices could expose account holders to legal repercussions.
