Quetta, 2 January – Renowned human rights defender Mir Yaar Baloch, a prominent voice for the Baloch community, has written a letter to India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. In the letter, he highlighted the serious human rights violations faced by the people of Balochistan over the past 79 years, citing Pakistan’s occupation and state-sponsored terrorism.

On the occasion of the New Year, Mir Yaar Baloch sent a message to EAM Jaishankar detailing the ongoing atrocities against the Baloch people. He also appreciated the bold and determined steps taken under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in 2025 through Operation Sindoor.

It is noted that following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting and dismantling terrorist bases supported by Pakistan. Mir Yaar described these measures as a clear demonstration of India’s courage, regional security commitment, and firm resolve for justice.

In his letter, he wrote, “On behalf of six crore patriotic citizens of Balochistan Republic, we extend heartfelt New Year greetings to the 140 crore people of India, both Houses of Parliament, media, civil society, and all respected individuals. This occasion offers an opportunity to reflect on and celebrate the deep historical, cultural, commercial, economic, diplomatic, and security ties that have connected India and Balochistan for centuries.”

He further stated, “These strong relations are exemplified by sacred sites like the Hinglaj Mata Temple (Nani Mandir), which remain a lasting symbol of our shared heritage and spiritual bonds.”

Mir Yaar also expressed serious concerns regarding the growing strategic alliance between Pakistan and China. He warned that China has advanced the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) to its final stages.

The human rights activist cautioned, “If the defence and capacity of Balochistan’s independent forces are not strengthened and if they continue to be ignored as before, it is conceivable that China could deploy its military forces in Balochistan within a few months. The presence of Chinese troops on Baloch soil without the consent of 60 million Baloch people would pose an unimaginable threat and challenge to the future of both India and Balochistan.”
