Mumbai, March 24: The Ayushman Bharat scheme, also known as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, is benefiting millions of underprivileged families by providing free treatment for serious illnesses and improving their financial conditions. Sopara Hospital, located in Sopara West under the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation near Mumbai, has emerged as a model center offering completely free and quality healthcare services to Ayushman cardholders.
Jalil Sheikh, a beneficiary at Sopara Hospital, shared his experience, stating, “My father suffers from a lung disease and has been having difficulty breathing. I admitted him to this hospital in Sopara West. We are receiving free treatment here through the Ayushman card. I am grateful to the government. I couldn’t afford to treat my father in a private hospital. The facilities here are excellent.”
Similarly, Iqbal Sheikh’s wife mentioned, “My husband has been experiencing breathing difficulties. He has been hospitalized for 18 days and is receiving free treatment, and now he has no issues.”
Dr. Gaurav Wagh, in charge of Sopara Hospital, reported that the Ayushman Bharat scheme is continuously benefiting patients. In the past month, 15 patients have availed of the scheme, including individuals from remote areas like Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Jalgaon. These patients were treated for serious conditions such as pneumonia, heart-related issues, and anemia. They received completely free and quality treatment through the Ayushman card and have all returned home healthy, showcasing the scheme’s success.
The Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is the world’s largest health insurance scheme, providing eligible families with up to ₹5 lakh in cashless treatment annually. This scheme covers hospitalization expenses for serious illnesses in listed private and government hospitals, including medication and surgeries.
