Guwahati, July 15: Assam Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya reviewed the progress of the permanent campus of Sri Sri Aniruddhadev Sports University in Chabua, Dibrugarh district, on Wednesday. He instructed officials to expedite construction work to ensure its timely completion.
During his visit to the construction site, the Governor inspected the ongoing work and urged the Public Works Department (Building) officials to accelerate the pace so that students can start using the new facilities as soon as possible. He emphasized that the completion of the permanent campus would enhance the university’s academic structure and allow for the introduction of more innovative courses, positioning it as the best sports university in the country.
The Governor reviewed the proposed facilities for the campus and requested detailed information about establishing a dedicated yoga center. Highlighting the importance of sports and health, he stated that such facilities would aid in the overall development of students. He directed university officials to maintain close coordination with the Public Works Department and Dibrugarh district administration to ensure the project is completed on schedule. Additionally, he instructed the relevant department to submit monthly progress reports on construction to the Raj Bhavan for regular review.
Earlier, Acharya chaired a review meeting at the university’s city campus, where Vice-Chancellor Prof. Hirendra Nath Sarma provided a detailed presentation on the institution’s academic progress and infrastructure development.
While reviewing the university’s academic roadmap, the Governor stressed that its programs should align with the goals of the National Education Policy 2020. He also highlighted the importance of incorporating the ‘Professor of Practice’ concept to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical experience by involving experts from various fields.
During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor informed the Governor that the university has launched several new courses, including programs on elephant management, training, and indigenous sports. He noted that these initiatives aim to preserve traditional knowledge systems while promoting modern sports education and the region’s rich cultural heritage.
