Assam Chief Minister Visits Flood-Affected Areas, Promises Rehabilitation Support

Guwahati, August 4: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited flood-affected regions and expressed his commitment to rehabilitate those displaced.

The Chief Minister shared updates on social media platform X, stating, “I have toured the flood-hit areas to assess the extent of damage caused to the people. A comprehensive plan to tackle this flood situation has already been prepared.”

CM Sarma emphasized, “Yesterday, I spent the entire day in the affected areas to understand the level of destruction they faced. We have developed a complete action plan to address the flood crisis. I assure the people that our government stands with them. We will provide full support to help them rebuild their lives and return to normalcy.”

His visit comes at a time when several districts are grappling with severe flooding. Many villages have been devastated, with state resources destroyed and embankments breached. Thousands have been impacted by this disaster.

The Chief Minister reviewed the flood damage and reassured the public that the government is committed to supporting affected individuals. All displaced persons will be rehabilitated.

He stressed that efforts are underway to compensate for losses, rebuild homes, and restore livelihoods. The state government has initiated relief and rescue operations in the affected districts. Officials are assessing damages to facilitate compensation and begin the rehabilitation process for flood victims.

Various departments have been instructed to expedite recovery efforts to ensure that there are no disruptions in road, bridge, electricity, and drinking water supplies. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority is monitoring the flood-affected areas in collaboration with district administrations.

While water levels have decreased in several areas, many villages continue to suffer from the aftermath of the flooding, significantly impacting their resources and agriculture.

Additionally, the government indicated that the focus will now shift from rehabilitation processes to providing immediate relief, ensuring that flood-affected individuals can regain stability and lead normal lives.
