Assam Chief Minister Sarma Challenges Congress on Fear Claims
Assams CM Himanta Biswa Sarma questions Congress on how they measure fear among political opponents in a recent social media post.

Guwahati, October 31 (Daily Kiran) : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently took a jab at the Congress party, questioning their repeated claims that political opponents are fearful. In a post on the social media platform X, Sarma asked how Congress measures this fear.
He pointed out that when Congress runs out of arguments, they resort to their familiar refrain: “They are scared.” Sarma challenged Congress leaders to explain what tools they use to determine if a political figure or party is afraid. He humorously inquired whether they employ the infamous “machine that turns potatoes into gold” or if they have developed new technology for this purpose.
Sarma urged Congress to disclose their methodology so that others could understand how fear is assessed. His mention of the “potato to gold” machine was a direct dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, a phrase often used in BJP’s critiques of the opposition.
This exchange is part of the ongoing political sparring between the BJP and Congress, with leaders from both sides frequently targeting each other on social media. Sarma has consistently responded to criticisms from the opposition and made satirical comments about Congress leadership.
His latest remarks come amid a backdrop of mutual accusations regarding political pressure, the operations of investigative agencies, and the conduct of their respective leaders. While Congress has accused the BJP of targeting opposition figures, the BJP has dismissed these claims and questioned Congress’s political arguments.
