Assam Chief Minister Criticizes Rahul Gandhis Mental State After Election Losses

Guwahati, August 14: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday. He claimed that multiple electoral defeats have negatively impacted Gandhi’s mental state.

Speaking to reporters, Sarma noted that Gandhi’s recent political statements reflect the despair following Congress’s numerous election losses.

“I believe his mental balance has deteriorated. After defeats in West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry, Rahul Gandhi’s mental state seems to have declined,” Sarma stated.

This comment comes amid escalating tensions between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress, with Gandhi continuously targeting the central and BJP governments on issues such as democracy, elections, and national security.

Recently, he intensified his criticism of the government, questioning the situation along India’s border with China. On Friday, he alleged that the Chinese army had prevented Indian soldiers from patrolling certain areas in Arunachal Pradesh. However, the government dismissed his claims as baseless.

Sarma has sharply criticized Gandhi’s political statements and behavior. After discussions at the ‘Creative Congress National Conference,’ he condemned Gandhi and the Congress party. The conference also featured Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Sarma accused the Congress leadership of crossing all bounds of decency. He remarked that comments made about a female leader from a friendly nation were politically inappropriate and could affect India’s foreign relations.

He emphasized that trivializing disrespect towards women reflects poorly on the political culture promoted by the party.

This incident marks another chapter in the ongoing confrontation between Sarma and Gandhi. During the 2026 Assam election campaign, Gandhi accused Sarma of corruption and spreading hatred, while the Chief Minister dismissed these allegations and retaliated.

In recent months, Sarma has frequently targeted Gandhi with strong words. In April, when accusations arose that the Assam government was misusing its powers against political opponents, he labeled the Congress leader as a “madman.”

These latest statements are expected to escalate the political tug-of-war between the BJP and Congress, as both sides hurl sharp accusations ahead of the next phase of political mobilization.
