Arvind Sawant Criticizes Government and Police at Historic Rally in Delhi
Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant condemns the government and police actions during a historic rally at Ram Leela Maidan in Delhi.

Mumbai, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MP Arvind Sawant delivered a sharp critique of the central government during a significant rally at Ram Leela Maidan in Delhi. He described the gathering as unprecedented, stating that such a large rally had not been seen in the capital for the past 25 to 30 years. Sawant also questioned the conduct of the Mumbai police, emphasizing that wearing a uniform should not equate to subservience, as the Constitution guarantees freedom of expression for all.
Sawant recounted his experience traveling from Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence to the rally, noting the immense crowd that caused traffic to come to a standstill. “You can’t even fathom the number of people present. I have not witnessed a rally of this magnitude in Delhi, particularly at Ram Leela Maidan, in the last three decades,” he remarked.
He pointed to the historical significance of Ram Leela Maidan, stating that whenever there is a movement there, it symbolizes a defeat for ‘Ravan’, a metaphor he used to describe the government’s actions. “This protest isn’t just against Gyanesh Kumar; he is merely a puppet being controlled by others,” Sawant asserted, adding that Kumar merely acts according to directives.
The MP expressed frustration with the police for detaining children and then granting permission for the rally. He urged law enforcement to respect citizens’ rights to free expression, reiterating, “You wear uniforms, but please do not become slaves. They deserve the right to express themselves, just as we do. Isn’t this what our Constitution guarantees?”
Sawant insisted that the opposition has every right to protest and dramatize their grievances, questioning the government’s own theatricality. “You cry, shout, and insult others; this has been your pattern throughout your political careers. The world is watching, and it can see who the real drama queens and main actors are,” he said.
He also defended his party, stating that the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) aims to uphold the ideology and values of the late Balasaheb Thackeray. Sawant criticized Rahul Gandhi and the Maha Vikas Aghadi for only referencing Congress’s past without addressing the pressing questions surrounding Gyanesh Kumar.
In closing, he highlighted the discrepancies in accountability, recalling Sonia Gandhi’s past actions related to the release of individuals involved in Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination, questioning if anyone else could demonstrate such a large-heartedness.
