Arunachal Pradesh Governor Highlights Unity at State Foundation Day Celebrations

Itanagar, May 1: Arunachal Pradesh Governor K.T. Parnaik emphasized on Friday that the State Foundation Day celebrations across various states, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative, serve as a meaningful platform to promote national unity.

He noted that this initiative brings together people from diverse backgrounds, strengthening the spirit of unity within India’s rich diversity.

The celebrations held at Lok Bhavan in Itanagar featured the foundation days of Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Himachal Pradesh, celebrated with great enthusiasm and cultural vibrancy.

Addressing the event, the Governor stated that these celebrations provide an opportunity for people to share experiences, understand each other’s aspirations, and discuss the challenges faced by communities living away from their home states.

He further remarked that such initiatives bring people closer, fostering a sense of nationalism, unity, and collective engagement.

Governor Parnaik and the state’s First Lady, Anagha Parnaik, graced the occasion with their presence.

A large number of residents from Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Himachal Pradesh living in Arunachal Pradesh attended the event.

Organized by Lok Bhavan, this event was designed to promote mutual respect, cultural exchange, and national unity, in line with the true spirit of the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative.

Retired Lieutenant General Parnaik acknowledged and appreciated the invaluable contributions of the people from these states to the development of Arunachal Pradesh.

Reflecting on historical and cultural ties, he recalled the deep mythological connections shared with the people of Gujarat, which continue to be celebrated today.

He also fondly remembered the significant contributions of the people of Maharashtra to the social development of Arunachal Pradesh, especially in the years following the 1962 war, when the spirit of national unity played a crucial role in the rebuilding and strengthening of communities.

The event featured a stunning display of cultural performances, showcasing the diversity and vibrancy of India’s traditions.

Highlights included a traditional Arunachali group dance performed by students from Rajiv Gandhi University, beautifully reflecting the state’s indigenous heritage.

This was followed by a melodious classical Lavani dance presented by Manami Gamlin from Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Nirjuli.
