New Delhi, May 5: The 24th Kumar Surendra Singh Memorial Shooting Championship showcased remarkable talent, with Rajasthan’s Anjali Shekhawat clinching gold in the women’s 10-meter air pistol event. Haryana’s Kanak also made headlines by winning gold medals in both the junior women’s and youth women’s categories.
Held at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, Shekhawat topped the podium with a final score of 240.5. Kanak followed closely with a score of 238.7, securing the second position. Punjab’s Agam Ranjit Kaur Grewal took home the bronze with a score of 216.
In the qualification round, Telangana’s Olympian Esha Singh led with a score of 582-20x, followed by Agam Ranjit Kaur Grewal at 579-15x and Haryana’s Muskaan Chahal at 577-21x. Notably, both Esha Singh and Madhya Pradesh’s Mahima Turhi Agrawal, who qualified seventh with a score of 575-20x, did not participate in the finals. Kanak qualified for the finals with a score of 576-13x, finishing sixth in the qualification round.
In the finals, Railway’s Yuvika Tomar secured fourth place with a score of 196.1 (576-15x), while Muskaan Chahal finished fifth with a score of 174.8. Another shooter from Haryana, also named Muskaan, ended up sixth with a score of 154.8 (575-19x).
Kanak continued her impressive performance by winning gold in the junior women’s 10-meter air pistol event with a score of 238.4. Haryana’s Priyanshi Poora earned silver with a score of 237.5, while Ketan from Haryana completed the clean sweep for the state with a bronze score of 216.8.
In the youth women’s event, Kanak excelled again, securing gold with a score of 244.3. Haryana’s Navya earned silver with a score of 237.7, and Army’s Anjali Mahendra Bhagwat took third place with a score of 215.3.
In the team event, Haryana emerged victorious. The trio of Priyanshi Poora, Navya, and Surbhi Rao achieved a total score of 1718.0-48x to win gold. The Railway team, consisting of Yuvika Tomar, Sakshi Anil Suryavanshi, and Riya Shirish Thatte, claimed silver with a score of 1710.0-40x, while Uttar Pradesh’s Vanshika Chaudhary, Sanskriti Bana, and Anjali Chaudhary secured bronze with a score of 1709.0-50x.
