Anil Shastri Reflects on His Fathers Legacy Amid Current Political Climate

New Delhi, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : Anil Shastri, son of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, spoke on the occasion of his father’s birth anniversary, drawing comparisons between his father’s leadership and that of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted their shared approach to national security and responses to threats from adversaries.

In a recent discussion, Anil Shastri recalled an incident when Pakistan crossed the international border to attack in the Chamb sector. He noted that Lal Bahadur Shastri had ordered a counterattack, which included targeting Lahore. Anil pointed out that the current military operation, dubbed ‘Operation Sindoor’, mirrors this historical response, as the Indian Army has targeted terrorist positions across the border.

Reflecting on his father’s simplicity, Anil emphasized that while Lal Bahadur Shastri led a modest life, times and perspectives evolve. He mentioned that Shastri was known for his khadi attire, a stark contrast to today’s political leaders. Despite this, he noted that Modi has honored Shastri’s legacy, recalling the slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ during his speeches.

Following the recent terrorist incident in Pahalgam, Anil supported the government’s decision regarding ‘Operation Sindoor’, asserting that Pakistan should understand that India will respond decisively to any aggression. He reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and that any attempts by Pakistan to claim it will fail.

On the political front, Anil Shastri addressed the opposition’s call for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He acknowledged that multiple objections have been raised against Kumar by other election commissioners, suggesting there might be validity to these concerns. Anil stated that the public has a right to know the specifics of these objections.

He also referenced senior BJP leader L.K. Advani, noting that even long-time voters in Delhi have received notices regarding their voting status. Anil concluded by lamenting the absence of leaders today who would resign on moral grounds, as his father did following a railway accident.

As the nation commemorates Lal Bahadur Shastri’s 122nd birth anniversary, Anil expressed pride in the widespread remembrance of his father. Events held across the country, including one at Vijay Ghat attended by the President, Vice President, and Prime Minister, aimed to honor Shastri’s ideals, integrity, and commitment to the nation. He emphasized that Shastri’s message remains relevant today, inspiring future generations.
