Amaravati, June 19: Andhra Pradesh‘s Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Forests and Environment, Pawan Kalyan, laid the foundation stone for ‘Aranyaramam’, the country’s first common facility center dedicated to forest research and conservation, near Mangalagiri on Friday. The center, with an estimated cost of ₹24 crore, will serve as a key hub for forest research, training, conservation, and environmental administration in the state.
‘Aranyaramam’ will function as the administrative and supervisory office for the Forest and Environment Department. It will also act as a command center for various initiatives, including the Hanuman project, the Andhra Pradesh Great Green Wall initiative, wildlife conservation, forest fire monitoring, ecosystem restoration, climate resilience, eco-tourism, and digital environmental governance.
After the foundation-laying ceremony, Pawan Kalyan inspected the Hanuman Gallery, which showcases information on wildlife rescue operations. Officials reported that the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department successfully conducted 185 wildlife rescue missions and 36 human-wildlife conflict resolution campaigns in 2024.
On this occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister also launched a special program named ‘Nandanavanam’, aimed at restoring natural areas damaged by mining activities. He initiated the campaign by planting a native banyan tree.
It was noted that mining activities since 2013 have severely impacted the hilly terrain and forest areas. Pawan Kalyan emphasized that the ‘Nandanavanam’ initiative aims to rejuvenate these regions, providing clean air and a resource-rich environment for future generations.
The event was attended by several senior officials, including Kantilal Dande, Principal Secretary of the Forest and Environment Department, Advisor Mallikarjun Rao, PCCF P.V. Chalapati Rao, and Chilla Palli Srinivasa Rao, Chairman of the State Medical Infrastructure Development Corporation.
