Kolkata, August 12: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to visit West Bengal later this month. This visit coincides with the completion of 100 days of the BJP government in the state.
For the first time since independence, the BJP government will mark its 100 days on August 19. Sources from the state BJP committee indicate that Shah may arrive for a three-day visit starting August 20.
A member of the state committee stated, “If he comes, his three-day itinerary will include both administrative and political events. During this visit, he is expected to meet with the state’s top administrative officials to discuss the progress of various welfare schemes, especially those sponsored by the central government.”
This potential visit aligns with the timing of the party’s core committee and extended state committee meetings in West Bengal.
Political analysts believe that Shah’s visit is significant, especially with potential changes in the state-level BJP organization anticipated before the Durga Puja festival in October.
The state committee member also mentioned that party leadership may seek his advice regarding the upcoming organizational reshuffle planned for the end of this year. The next round of changes will primarily focus on the organizational district, block, and booth levels, with minimal adjustments at the state committee level.
Additionally, it has been revealed that the state leadership plans to recommend two names from West Bengal for key positions in the central leadership, such as national vice president and national secretary.
