Amit Shah Welcomes Global Leaders to BRICS Summit, Aims for a Brighter Future

New Delhi, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : Home Minister Amit Shah warmly welcomed global leaders arriving for the high-profile BRICS summit taking place in New Delhi on September 12-13. He highlighted the significance of the summit, noting that media attention is focused on the shifting economic dynamics from the West to South Asia.

During the summit, leaders from member nations will discuss enhancing cooperation and fostering prosperity for a better world. Shah shared his excitement on the social media platform X, stating, “The stage is set for BRICS 2026!” He also posted a video showcasing the beautifully prepared Bharat Mandapam, the venue for the two-day global event.

Shah emphasized India’s role as the world’s largest democracy, extending a warm welcome to global leaders. He expressed hopes for strengthening relationships, increasing collaboration, and taking steps towards shared prosperity. “Together, we will build a bright future,” he stated.

The summit will bring together eleven emerging and developing economies, including Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, India, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the UAE, to discuss various global issues.

The theme for India’s presidency in 2026 is “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability.” India assumed the BRICS presidency on January 1 this year, marking its fourth term in this role, having previously led in 2012, 2016, and 2021.

BRICS comprises 11 countries that collectively represent 49.5% of the world’s population, 40% of global GDP, and 26% of global trade, underscoring the group’s significant demographic and economic impact. In recent years, the economic scope and importance of BRICS have grown compared to other summits like the G7, with an increasing number of members from Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.
