Amit Shah Addresses Womens Reservation Bill in Lok Sabha, Criticizes Congress

Mumbai, April 17: Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, addressed the Lok Sabha regarding the Women’s Reservation Bill, emphasizing the need for timely implementation. He stated that the Congress party’s proposal, presented in the absence of Rahul Gandhi, is a deliberate ploy to delay the bill’s enactment until after 2029. Shah asserted that the Women’s Reservation Bill must be implemented before 2029, rejecting any attempts to postpone it.

He urged the women of the country to recognize who stands in the way of their rights. Shah clarified that the Indian Constitution does not support reservation based on religion, countering claims made by the opposition regarding Muslim women’s reservation. He questioned the constitutional basis for such demands, highlighting that the Constitution does not endorse reservations on religious grounds.

Shah criticized the Congress party for its past opposition to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) and accused them of insincerity. He pointed out that from 1947 to 2014, the Congress party neglected the OBC community, and only now, when it is politically expedient, are they advocating for OBC representation.

Under the Modi government, 27 ministers belong to the OBC community, making up 40% of the total cabinet. The government has also granted constitutional status to the OBC Commission and empowered states to amend their OBC lists.

Shah concluded by stating that the women of the nation will recognize how their rights have been undermined by the Congress party.
