
Lucknow, April 17: The ‘Dairy Golden Festival 2026’ was grandly inaugurated on Friday in Uttar Pradesh, aimed at elevating the dairy sector. The event was launched by the Minister of Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development, Dharmapal Singh. He emphasized that the dairy sector has become the backbone of the rural economy in Uttar Pradesh and plays a crucial role in making the state a ‘one trillion dollar economy.’
The minister revealed that over 796 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) have been signed in the dairy development sector, amounting to more than ₹25,000 crores, which will create over 60,000 jobs. Additionally, under the Ground Breaking Ceremony-5.0, 72 projects worth ₹2,000 crores have been initiated, providing employment to around 4,000 individuals. Furthermore, 59 new MOUs worth over ₹3,000 crores have been signed, potentially generating 13,000 additional jobs.
He also mentioned that under the ‘Nand Baba Dairy Mission,’ over 10,000 beneficiaries have received ₹84 crores in subsidies through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). More than 4,000 dairy cooperative societies have been established, connecting approximately 1.5 lakh dairy producers. Notably, dairy production in the state has seen significant growth, rising from 277.70 lakh metric tons in 2016-17 to 1836.85 lakh metric tons in 2025-26. Per capita milk availability has also increased from 352 grams to 450 grams daily.
Major dairy companies, including Amul, Paras, Gyaan, Namaste India, Shuddh, and Madhusudan, showcased their products and technologies at the festival. New products were launched, and livestock farmers and entrepreneurs were honored for their exceptional contributions. Approximately 10,000 livestock farmers, dairy producers, and investors attended the event, while millions connected via webcasting from across the country and abroad.
