Ghaziabad, May 31: In a strong rebuttal to the criticisms made by Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav regarding the functioning and law-and-order situation of the Uttar Pradesh government, BJP Rajya Sabha member Dr. Sangeeta Balwant has urged Yadav to reflect on his own tenure.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Balwant emphasized that before questioning the current government, Yadav should consider the state of affairs during his administration and the chaos that prevailed then. She asserted that under the BJP’s leadership, Uttar Pradesh is rapidly progressing towards development and good governance, while the SP’s rule is still remembered by the public as a time of lawlessness.
Dr. Balwant pointed out that while Yadav continuously criticizes the government, he should also clarify the conditions of the state during his tenure. She noted that the public still recalls the deteriorating law-and-order situation and the increasing influence of criminals during the SP’s governance.
She accused the SP regime of failing to provide a sense of security to ordinary citizens, contrasting it with the effective measures the current government has implemented to strengthen law and order. Dr. Balwant stated that Uttar Pradesh is on the path to becoming an ‘excellent state,’ which is why opposition parties are feeling uneasy.
She remarked that Yadav is troubled by the visible development projects occurring in the state today, which were absent during his rule. This, she believes, is why he continues to make statements against the government and attempts to stir political issues.
Regarding the alleged rape case involving a female police officer in Lucknow, Dr. Balwant responded to Yadav’s comments, who suggested that BJP women advocating for women’s reservation and empowerment should feel ashamed of the incident. Dr. Balwant described the case as serious, assuring that local authorities are investigating it thoroughly. She expressed confidence that strict action would be taken against the culprits once the investigation concludes.
Recently, Yadav accused the BJP government of negligence, citing incidents like a bridge collapse in the morning, a railway station shed collapse in the afternoon, and cracks appearing in the Ganga Expressway by evening. In response, Dr. Balwant reminded him of the conditions during his administration when law and order and administrative issues were frequently questioned. She claimed that the public has witnessed the SP’s governance, which is why they voted them out of power.
Looking ahead to the 2027 assembly elections, she predicted that the Samajwadi Party would not receive public support, and the BJP would once again emerge in a strong position.
