
New Delhi: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar, along with five others, died on Wednesday in a plane crash. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed that all six passengers on board the aircraft lost their lives.
Following the news, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra expressed her condolences, saying, “I convey my sympathies to the entire Pawar family and their supporters. I have spoken to Ajit Pawar’s wife and Supriya Sule.”
Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said, “There are reports on TV that Deputy CM Ajit Pawar was on the plane. No official or verified information has come yet. I pray to God for a miracle and hope everyone is safe.”
Congress MP Vivek Tankha stated, “I had no information about this and just learned from you. It is very concerning. I pray for everyone’s safety because Ajit Pawar was a great leader. We have long-standing relations with him and his family, and we sincerely hope everyone is safe and alive. We pray that no harm comes to anyone in this crash.”
NCP (SC) MP Fauzia Khan said, “I just received this information from the media and have not spoken to anyone yet.”
Revolutionary Socialist Party MP NK Premchandran commented, “It is very sad and shocking to hear about this morning’s plane crash involving the Deputy Chief Minister and his team. Let’s wait for the reports before commenting further.”
Biju Janata Dal Vice President Debi Prasad Mishra described the news as “very tragic.” He added, “Ajit Pawar was a respected leader of Maharashtra. He had formed his own faction after splitting from Sharad Pawar’s party. He was serving as Deputy Chief Minister and had previously managed the irrigation ministry. He wielded significant influence in Pune, Baramati, and across Maharashtra.”
Reports indicated that Ajit Pawar was supposed to attend rallies in Baramati ahead of the local body elections on Wednesday.
