Chennai, Mar 11 : The Madras High Court today granted conditional bail to senior AIADMK leader and former Minister D Jayakumar in an alleged land grabbing case. Granting bail on a petition filed by the former Minister, Justice A.D. Jagadish Chandira directed him to stay in Tiruchi for two weeks and sign before the Cantonment Police Station thrice a week–on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. In his application, Jayakumar alleged the Central Crime Branch of the Chennai Police had ‘falsely implicated’ him in the case due to political vendetta by using Mageshkumar, brother of his son-in-law, Naveenkumar over a Rs five crore property. With this Jayakumar had been granted bail in all thre three cases filed against him. This included an attempt to murder case for forcing a DMK cadre to remove his shirt and parading him on public during the urban local body polls on February 19. The second case was booked on charges of attempting to spread COVID virus when he staged a road roko agitation on the polling day. GV 1530
