Ahmedabad Prepares for Local Government Elections with Comprehensive Planning

Ahmedabad, April 26: The district administration is set to conduct the voting process for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Taluka-District Panchayat elections on April 26. To ensure a free, fair, and transparent environment, District Collector and District Election Officer Sujit Kumar personally visited various receiving and dispatching centers on Saturday.

During this visit, the Collector conducted a detailed inspection of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) storage, staff allocation, and basic facilities available at the centers. He reviewed the entire operation and provided necessary guidance and instructions.

Notably, there are a total of 28 receiving and dispatching centers in the district. This includes 16 centers for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, 9 for the district and Taluka Panchayat, and 3 centers for municipalities handling EVM receiving and dispatching.

Voting will take place at 4,257 polling stations across the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, with an additional 1,125 centers for the district and Taluka Panchayat, and a total of 132 polling stations for the three municipalities.

To facilitate this process, over 30,000 personnel, including more than 27,000 polling staff, are engaged in election duties.

District Collector Sujit Kumar stated that preparations have been completed at every level by the District Election Administration. The aim is to ensure that voters can cast their votes in a peaceful environment, and the entire process is executed smoothly.

Additionally, specific instructions have been issued regarding the facilities and security for staff at the receiving and dispatching centers. This is to ensure that the entire process, from sending EVMs to collecting them post-voting and sealing them in the strong room, is efficient and error-free.
