
Menlo Park, March 22: Aditi Ashok delivered an impressive performance, scoring 6-under 66 in the second round, which placed her in a tie for third with Thailand’s world number one, Jeeno Thitikul. Both players achieved this score after starting with an even-par round, joining a group that includes Karis Davidson, Nelly Korda, Hae-Jin Choi, Minjee Lee, and Jin-Young Ko.
Hyo Joo Kim extended her lead by scoring 2-under 70 in the second round, pulling four shots ahead of her closest competitor, Mexico’s Gaby Lopez. Kim now stands at 11-under par. Lopez had a strong first day with a score of 5-under 67, followed by a 2-under 70 in the second round, maintaining her second-place position at 7-under.
Ashok began her second round on the front nine, making four consecutive birdies from the third hole. By the eighth hole, she had reached 5-under par before turning. On the back nine, she made another birdie on the 11th hole but recorded her only bogey of the day on the 13th. A final birdie on the 18th hole secured her spot at 6-under par, tying for third.
Hyo Joo Kim started her second day on the back nine, making two bogeys against one birdie before showcasing excellent play on the front nine, where she made three birdies without any bogeys. This performance allowed her to extend her lead to four strokes. Aaron Rai scored 5-over 77 in the second round, missing the cut at the Valspar Championship after a strong first round that had placed him in the top 10. His total score was 3-over par (68-77).
Sahith Theegala also missed the cut. He began the week with a challenging first round and needed a significant improvement on the second day. He scored even-par 72 in the second round, finishing the week at 6-over par (77-72).
After the second round, Sungjae Im remains in the lead, being the only player in the top four with a PGA Tour victory. Im scored 2-under 70 in the second round, one stroke ahead of his closest rival, David Lipsky. His total score is 9-under par (64-69).
Aaron Rai started his second round with a birdie on the back nine but fell behind with three bogeys and a double bogey on the first nine holes. He began the front nine with another birdie but ended with four bogeys and one more birdie, resulting in a total of 6-over par for the day, concluding his tournament early.
Other players in the top four include David Lipsky in second place at 8-under, while Doug Ghim and tour newcomer Chandler Blanchet are tied for third at 7-under. Defending champion Viktor Hovland missed the cut for the second consecutive year at Valspar, marking the first time since the 2025 Players Championship that he has missed a cut in a tournament.
