Abhishek Sharmas Missed Run-Out: A Game-Changer in IPL 2026

New Delhi, April 22: In a thrilling match on Tuesday in Hyderabad, Abhishek Sharma emerged as a key player for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2026. Sharma scored an impressive 135 runs off 68 balls, significantly contributing to his team’s victory.

However, his remarkable innings could have taken a different turn had DC capitalized on a missed run-out opportunity. Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh labeled this oversight as DC’s biggest mistake.

Speaking on GeoHostar’s “Google Search AI Mode Match Center Live,” Harbhajan commented on the critical moment of Sharma’s missed run-out, stating, “That was a pivotal moment in the match. If Abhishek had been dismissed, the game would have looked very different. He played a crucial innings and was a key reason behind that massive total. When a team scores over 240 runs, such moments are crucial, and this was the moment that completely changed the game. He was quite short, and a direct hit or a good throw could have altered everything.”

The missed run-out opportunity occurred in the ninth over of SRH’s innings when wicketkeeper KL Rahul failed to execute the dismissal. At that point, Sharma had only 49 runs. After playing a shot, he ventured too far out of the crease while attempting a second run. Unfortunately, the ball did not reach Rahul’s gloves accurately, allowing Sharma to remain not out. This error proved costly for DC. Sharma’s innings, which included 10 sixes and 10 fours, propelled SRH to a total of 242 runs, leading to a 47-run victory over DC, who managed only 195 runs.
