AAPs Newly Formed PAC Holds First Meeting to Strategize for Upcoming Elections

AAPs Political Affairs Committee met to discuss strategies for upcoming elections in Punjab, Goa, and Gujarat, emphasizing organizational strength.

New Delhi, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : The newly formed Political Affairs Committee (PAC) of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held its inaugural meeting on September 17, 2026, in New Delhi. Led by national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, the meeting took place at his residence and included key members such as Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Minister Harpal Singh Cheema.

During the meeting, the committee extensively discussed preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in Punjab, Goa, and Gujarat. Senior AAP leader and Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia highlighted that significant political and organizational issues were addressed.

Sisodia noted that the meeting commenced with a celebration of AAP’s recent victory in Baran, Rajasthan. He emphasized that the results signal a public desire for political alternatives. The party plans to organize a roadshow in Baran featuring Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann.

The discussions also focused on election strategies in Punjab, Goa, and Gujarat. Sisodia asserted that AAP’s organization in Punjab is robust and fully prepared for the elections. He claimed that the public is satisfied with Mann’s government and wishes to see him re-elected.

In Goa and Gujarat, Sisodia mentioned that citizens are also seeking change. The PAC brainstormed ways to translate organizational efforts into electoral success in these states. They also addressed issues related to the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

Sisodia accused the central government of making decisions regarding UPI under pressure from former U.S. President Donald Trump, suggesting these would burden the public. He raised concerns about potential fees on UPI transactions and stated that AAP would bring this issue to the organizational level.

He alleged that the proposed system would primarily benefit American companies, while the government plans to impose the costs of a publicly funded digital payment system onto citizens. However, these claims remain unverified.

The meeting also touched on a recent media report regarding the previous assembly elections in Delhi. Sisodia alleged that a large number of fake votes were created in the New Delhi constituency before the elections, with some households reportedly having 50 to 100 votes added. He claimed that many of these fraudulent votes were later removed during the Special Investigation Report (SIR) process and urged the Election Commission to take action.

Regarding the Punjab elections, Sisodia reiterated AAP’s readiness, asserting that the public is inclined to give the current government another chance. He criticized opposition parties, warning that a return to their rule could revive issues of drug abuse, corruption, and unemployment.

Notably, the PAC was established following a meeting of AAP’s National Council and the National Executive, with Kejriwal appointed as its convenor. New members, including Punjab’s Chief Minister and Cheema, were incorporated into the committee, marking the meeting as a crucial step in the lead-up to the assembly elections.
