Centre should procure paddy on par with Punjab state during Yansangi season: Telangana CM

Hyderabad, March 21 : Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said that the TRS legislature party meeting unanimously demanded that the Centre should procure paddy on par with Punjab state during the Yasangi season. Speaking to the media, after participating in the TRS legislature party meeting held at TRS Bhavan here on Monday Rao said that a group of Ministers and MPs will meet on Civil Supplies Minister Piyush Goyal at New Delhi tomorrow and to explain the problems being faced by the farmers in the procurement. Rao demanded that the Centre must buy paddy with MSP in the state. He said that there was a need for constitutional protection for agricultural products. The Chief Minister made it clear that he would take up the issue more seriously than the Telangana movement. The Chief Minister demanded that there would be a single policy across the country in the procurement of food grains. He asked the party cadre to make the peasant movement similar to the Telangana movement to protect the peasants. The Chief Minister said that the farmers had cultivated paddy in 35 lakh acres in the state during the Yasangi season. For choosing alternative crops by the farmers, the paddy crop was reduced to 25 lakh acres. Stating that the Centre should follow a single policy– One Country- One Procurement Policy across the country, Rao said the Centre should buy paddy with the MSP instead of rice. He said, the BJP’s strength has decreased in Uttar Pradesh as compared to last elections. BJP should think about it. BJPs charisma was degrading day-by-day. People gave their mandate in favour of NDA because UPA rule was not good. Now BJP is also following the same suit. So BJP must step down, he said. Clarifying that there are no early polls in the state, the Chief Minister said earlier we went to early polls because of the situation prevailing in the state. He said that he has taken a decision to inspire national politics. As per my invitation Prasanth Kishore was working as political advisor for me. Stating that Kishore is a good friend of mine during the last eight years, Mr Rao said Kishore is never taking money for his work. Rao said as per political parties wishes, Kishore was working for them. So far he (Kishore) worked for 12 states including Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal. VV SHK2320
