Shimla, Mar 21 ( ) In the presence of Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur, Party Chief Suresh Kashyap and Vidhan Sabha speaker Vipin Singh Parmar, Himachal Pradesh versity former Vice Chancellor Prof Sikander Kumar filed nominations as BJP candidate for Rajya Sabha seat in the State assembly complex here on Monday. The victory of Mr Sikandar is only a matter of formality as no other contender filled his papers for the seat which would be vacant after April 2 with Completion of Congress MP Anand Sharma’s tenure. Mr Sikandar Kumar belongs to Hamirpur district, he expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP national President JP Nadda, on Home Minister Amit Shah and CM Thakur for shortlisting him for the upper house. Former Vice Chancellor HPU Dr. Sikander Kumar filled the Nomination for Rajya Sabha seat today on Monday in Himachal Vidhan Sabha in front of the returning officer and Vidhan Sabha Secretary Yashpal Sharma in the presence of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and Party President and MP Suresh Kashyap. Today was the last date for filing the nominations. On this occasion Vidhan Sabha Speaker Vipin Parmar, Urban Development Minister Suresh Bhardwaj and Ministers and MLAs were also present. Dr. Sikander Kumar said that he is very happy as the party has reposed faith in him and he will do his best for the betterment of the people of the state. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and Party President Suresh Kashyap have congratulated Dr Sikander Kumar. Dr Sikander Kumar owns a flat at Zirakpur.
