SC to announce verdict on Ayodhya issue today 

The five-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court had reserved its judgement.

The four other judges in the five-judge Constitution bench, which heard the case, include Justices Sharad Arvind Bobde, Ashok Bhushan, D Y Chandrachud and S Abdul Nazeer.

The Apex Court was hearing the case from August 6, this year, on a day-to-day basis after the mediation process, conducted by a three-member Mediation panel, headed by Justice (Retired) FMI Kalifullah, in the case failed.
Ahead of the Judgement clerics and priests here have appealed to people to honour the Supreme Court’s verdict on the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute and respect religious sentiments. The various sides have also said that they will respect the judgement.

People have been advised to exercise caution on the social media rumours and not believe anything that is making rounds there without official confirmation. police has made it clear that anyone who indulges in rumour mongering will be strictly dealt with.

Meanwhile, The UP administration has set up multi-layered security arrangements in the temple town of Ayodhya with drones being used to monitor the situation ahead of the apex court judgment in the Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute case. Several companies of central forces along with PAC and RAF have been deployed in the temple city besides  ATS and snipers have been engaged.

As part of the stringent security measures ahead of the Supreme Court’s crucial verdict no vehicles are being allowed to proceed towards the disputed site. All the roads leading to Ramjanmabhoomi from Ayodhya have been closed for the vehicles except for families residing near it.

The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered the closure of all schools, colleges, educational institutions and training centres in the state from Saturday to Monday. Two helicopters have been kept on standby, one in Lucknow and one in Ayodhya, to tackle any possible emergency.

The dispute over 2.77 acres of land in Ayodhya. On September 30, 2010, a three-judge Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court ordered a partition of the site occupied by the Babri Masjid equally among the U.P. Sunni Central Waqf Board, the Nirmohi Akhara and Ram Lalla, the deity.

In May 2011, on appeals by the Sunni Waqf Board and other parties, the Supreme Court stayed the judgment.

The day to day hearing commenced on August 6, after CJI declared that the mediation talks by the SC-appointed panel of Justice F M Khalifullah, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Senior Advocate Sriram Panchu failed.

The case banks mostly on documents written in languages as varied as Persian and Arabic, dating back to the 16th century.
