Devendra Fadnavis resigns as Maharashtra CM; Governor accepts resignation

In the 288 member assembly, the BJP has emerged as the single-largest party with 105 seats while its partner Shivsena has won 56 seats. 

The BJP is insisting on Chief Ministership being the single largest party, while the Shivsena is aspiring for equal share of power with rotational arrangement to share the top position in the state. 

Later addressing an press conference in Mumbai, Devendra Fadnavis said he has been asked to continue as the acting Chief Minister till the formation of a new government. 

He also thanked the people of maharashtra for allowing him to serve them. He also said that he has run a transparent government and he has always stood with the people. He also said that there is a lot more to do in the state.
