9th CIIE Consultation Conference Held in Switzerland

Geneva, March 12: The 9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) and the Hongqiao International Economic Forum Consultation Conference recently took place at the Palace of Nations in Geneva.

Over 30 representatives from international organizations, including the International Trade Centre, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), and the World Trade Organization, attended the event. Diplomats from countries such as Nicaragua, Cape Verde, and Kazakhstan, along with representatives from partner institutions like the Swiss Centre, were also present.

Dorothy Tembo, Deputy Executive Director of the International Trade Centre, highlighted that over the past eight years, CIIE has successfully brought together enterprises, buyers, and consumers from around the world, fostering connections, mutual learning, and sustainable cooperation.

Luiz Maria de la Mora, Director of the International Trade and Commodities Division at UNCTAD, emphasized China’s significant role in supporting the multilateral trading system, promoting South-South cooperation, and reducing development gaps across various sectors.

Liang Hong, Minister Counselor of the Chinese Permanent Mission in Geneva, stated that CIIE is a vital public product offered by China to the international community and serves as a vivid practice of building a community with a shared future.

Song Shangche, a representative from the CIIE Bureau and the Hongqiao Forum Secretariat, noted that the forum aims to create collective consensus, promote global openness and shared development, and support multilateralism. Attendees praised the CIIE and Hongqiao Forum for their commitment to the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
