Amaravati, September 11 (Daily Kiran) : The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) is pushing for increased transparency in the Special Intensive Review (SIR) process concerning voter lists in Andhra Pradesh. On September 11, Lella Appi Reddy, the party’s general secretary and member of the Legislative Council, addressed a letter to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state.
Reddy requested that all changes to the voter lists be verifiable at the booth level, rather than simply providing download links. He emphasized the need for official data on voters who have been added, removed, transferred, or declared deceased, broken down by assembly and booth.
He also sought comprehensive details on unmapped and discrepancy-related notices. Reddy argued that the number of issued notices, resolved cases, removed voters, and pending matters should be made public. This transparency would allow Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to verify each affected voter.
Furthermore, Reddy noted that the YSRCP has previously informed election officials about suspected duplicate registrations within the state and across other states. Despite this, many such entries remain on the voter list. He insisted that only one valid vote should be allowed per individual.
Reddy raised concerns regarding the restructuring of polling stations, alleging that members of the same family, including newly registered voters, are being assigned to different booths and even different wards. He called for voters from the same family to be kept together whenever possible and for the restructuring process to be reviewed based on the latest available voter data after the SIR.
The party also requested clarification on the criteria used for transferring voters from one booth to another, questioning whether geographical location, house number, or serial number were considered. They demanded that voter lists be systematically organized based on house numbers and locality.
Additionally, the YSRCP urged the release of information on newly established and reorganized polling stations, revised booth mapping, voter transfers, and the names and contact details of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to recognized political parties.
Reddy emphasized that no eligible voter should be removed from the list, while verified duplicates and ineligible entries must be eliminated.
