Mumbai, December 4: Television’s longest-running serial ‘Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, which began on January 12, 2009, has created history by completing 5,000 episodes. The show recently celebrated this milestone along with producer Rajan Shahi’s birthday.
A grand celebration was organised to mark the completion of 5,000 episodes, where the second generation characters Kartik and Naira were also spotted at the event.
The festivities began with traditional bhavan and pooja on the set, followed by Rajan Shahi cutting his birthday cake and dance performances. The celebration was joined by the ‘Anupama’ family and almost all characters associated with ‘Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’. Actor Rohit Purohit attended the event with his wife and newborn baby, seeking blessings from all the senior stars present on set.
Speaking to media on completing 5,000 episodes, ‘Anupama’s Ba said, “In today’s time, even completing 1,000 episodes becomes difficult. Even marriages don’t last as long as our serial has survived.” She credited Rajan Shahi for laying such a strong foundation for the show, adding, “We wish to have as many episodes as there are stars in the sky.”
Lead actors Armaan and Abhira stated that this achievement is the result of the entire team’s hard work along with viewers’ love, who have supported the serial for so many years. They expressed that no other serial has completed this many episodes, making it a joyous day for them and the entire team.
Abhira mentioned that the entire ‘Ye Rishta’ family was present at the celebration, including the show’s previous cast members. She said meeting everyone felt wonderful as everyone has contributed to this success.
The serial currently showcases Akshara’s fourth generation. The show’s story began with Akshara and Naitik’s love story, followed by Kartik and Naira. Later, the show featured Abhimanyu and Akshara’s love story, and now Armaan and Abhira are leading the show. The serial’s spin-off show ‘Ye Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke’ was also quite successful.
