Womens Reservation Bill Reflects PM Modis Commitment, Say Padma Awardees

New Delhi, April 10: Padma awardees Shashi Soni and Bhimavva Doddabalappa Shillekyathara welcomed the Women’s Reservation Bill on Thursday. They stated that this long-awaited legislation showcases Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s strength and commitment. They urged women across the nation to step forward and play a significant role in nation-building.

Soni, in an interview, emphasized that the bill ensures 33% reservation for women in legislatures, marking a historic moment. It opens new avenues for women to contribute meaningfully in Parliament. She credited the Prime Minister for bringing this law to Parliament, highlighting it as a sign of decisive leadership and a commitment to politically empower women.

Stressing the importance of participation, she encouraged women to confidently come forward and contribute to development. She noted that women today possess the strength and capability to lead. They should strengthen their thoughts, advance with confidence, and uphold truth and dignity in public life.

Speaking on women’s roles in Parliament, Soni underscored the need to maintain balance and protect the country’s image. She stated that to ensure the effective functioning of democratic institutions, female representatives should focus on constructive debates and nation-building rather than disruptions.

Regarding the transformative potential of increased participation, she mentioned that a greater presence of women in legislatures would provide a robust platform for expressing ideas and formulating policies. She added that grassroots participation and mutual cooperation among women would accelerate progress and contribute to building a strong and self-reliant India.

Appreciating various government initiatives, Soni noted that women today enjoy more freedom to speak, lead, and showcase their capabilities. She described this reservation as a significant opportunity and urged incoming women in Parliament to work with integrity, promote peace, and bring about positive changes in society.

She also expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, wishing him strength and longevity, and stated that women are ready to walk alongside him in contributing to the nation’s development.

Meanwhile, Bhimavva Doddabalappa Shillekyathara from Karnataka echoed similar sentiments, expressing gratitude towards the Prime Minister. He supported the move, describing it as a step towards greater empowerment and representation of women in the country.
