Why is PM silent on contractor’s death: Cong

New Delhi, April 15 : The Congress on Friday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence over the death of contractor Santosh Patil in Karnataka and reiterated its demand to arrest Minister K S Eshwarappa amid allegations of his involvement in the death. Patil had alleged before dying that Eshwarappa demanded a 40 per cent commission on the value of the contract work executed by him. “One horrific incident after another proves only one thing, PM Modi’s silence costs Indian lives. If the BJP is so incapable of delivering justice and raising a voice against one of their own, it is not only a national shame but also a national betrayal,” the Congress tweeted along with the hashtag ‘Arrest Eshwarappa’. The grand old party also shared a graphic in which it claimed that ”Santosh Patil wrote to the PM about corruption in the BJP-led government in Karnataka. No action taken. Patil commits suicide blaming KS Eshwarappa”. The Congress also asked whether corruption and abetting murder were not a crime for the ruling dispensation. “The hypocrite Modi government has lowered down to a point where it can no longer distinguish between right and wrong,” the party said. Earlier, Eshwarappa denied his involvement in the death of Patil and said a conspiracy was being hatched to malign his image. DS MR
