Goa CM to write to HC to include Konkani language in proceedings

Panaji, April 15 : Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday said he will write a letter to Bombay High Court at Goa to introduce Konkani along with English to conduct court proceedings. Speaking at the 8th International Hindi Congress being held here, he said,”When we go to the judiciary to seek justice, the work should be in Konkani. We will make efforts to ensure that the court functions in English as well as Konkani. Will write to the High Court.” Stressing the promotion of Hindi, he said it will make India more ted but also the country will emerge as ‘Akhand Bharat’. He said Goa is a multilingual state where different languages are used for different work. ”We are known for four languages. We interact in Konkani, prefer Marathi newspapers, Hindi films and English for writing. Goa is known for four languages,” he said. ”Our government will constantly work to promote the regional languages in Goa,” he asserted. In future also regional languages will have good scope in Goa,” he said. ”We have already started graduation, Post Graduate education in Konkani Language in Goa, he informed. Our Marathi academy and Konkani academy are also working hard to promote Konkani and Marathi languages in Goa,” he said. AKM SY 1537
