Voters Prepare for Rajasthan Panchayat Elections on November 3
Over 10.6 million voters in Rajasthan will cast their ballots on November 3 in a crucial phase of the Panchayat elections.

Jaipur, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : In Jaipur, Rajasthan, the third phase of the Panchayati Raj elections is set for November 3, with voting taking place across 27 districts. More than 10.6 million voters will determine the fate of 9,094 candidates. This phase includes elections for 377 district council wards and 2,119 panchayat committee wards.
A total of 1,305 candidates are vying for district council seats, while 7,789 candidates are in the running for panchayat committee positions. Election officials report that 10,681,567 voters are eligible to participate, with 11,869 polling stations established for the process.
In Bharatpur, the home district of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the highest number of candidates is contesting for panchayat committee seats. The district also sees a significant number of candidates for district council wards. Specifically, 91 candidates are competing for 19 district council wards in Bharatpur. Dausa and Hanumangarh have the most district council wards, with 24 each. Dausa also leads in panchayat committee wards, featuring 142 wards with 474 candidates.
Bharatpur will hold elections for 98 panchayat committee wards, where 696 candidates are contesting—the highest number of candidates for panchayat committee seats in any district during this phase. With thousands of candidates in the fray, this phase is expected to showcase intense electoral competition at the grassroots level.
Additionally, both the BJP and Congress face a significant test of their political strength in rural Rajasthan during this third phase of the elections. The elections for district council and panchayat committee members in 17 districts have become a matter of prestige for both parties.
Among the 65 assembly constituencies in these districts, the BJP holds 30 seats while Congress has 27, indicating a tight race at the state level. The selection of candidates, local caste dynamics, coordination among party leaders, and efforts to prevent internal strife will play a crucial role in determining the election outcomes.
For Congress, the challenge lies in maintaining momentum from their recent victory in the Anta assembly by-election while safeguarding their traditional voter base. The party is also facing stiff competition from the Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) in tribal-dominated areas, where the regional party is gaining influence.
Consequently, the election results will serve as a significant indicator of the organizational strength of both national parties in the political landscape of rural Rajasthan and the upcoming electoral contests.
