Bengaluru, April 25: In a thrilling IPL 2026 match, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) triumphed over Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets. The match, held at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, showcased an outstanding performance by Virat Kohli, who emphasized the significance of his partnership with Devdutt Padikkal.
Kohli delivered a powerful innings, scoring 81 runs off 44 balls, including eight fours and four sixes. He and Padikkal formed a crucial partnership of 115 runs, with Padikkal contributing 55 runs from just 27 balls. Kohli’s impressive display earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ title.
After the victory, Kohli remarked, “We needed to assess the conditions early on. We were just one partnership away from success. We aimed to analyze and adapt. Padikkal has done this twice this season, which is quite rare. His innings were vital for the match. I was focused on staying in the game, and our partnership proved to be crucial.”
Kohli also praised RCB’s bowlers, stating, “Our bowlers did a fantastic job. The spinners struggled to find grip. Once you understand the conditions, you back yourself. Gujarat Titans batted first, scoring 205 runs for three wickets in their 20 overs, with Sai Sudharsan impressing with a century off 58 balls. However, RCB chased down the target of 206 runs comfortably, losing just five wickets in 18.5 overs.
