Patna, March 25: A wave of panic swept through Bhojpur district in Bihar on Tuesday when a shooting occurred at the Piro registry office, injuring five individuals, including a property dealer.
The incident stemmed from an ongoing dispute over a plot of land measuring approximately 2.5 katthas. Initial reports indicate that a gang armed with weapons launched a sudden attack on those present to complete land registration formalities. Chaos ensued as the situation escalated, creating a scene of disorder and panic within the campus.
Notably, the campus houses the offices of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), and other essential administrative offices, which are typically regarded as secure. Despite this, the assailants managed to carry out the shooting, raising serious concerns regarding law and order.
All five injured individuals were initially taken to a nearby health center for primary treatment. However, due to the severity of their injuries, they were later referred to Ara for advanced care. Police teams arrived promptly at the scene following the incident.
Under the leadership of the SDPO, officials from various police stations have commenced an investigation, conducting raids to identify and apprehend those involved. This incident occurred just one day before Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s scheduled visit to Ara as part of his Prosperity Yatra.
In a separate incident, an unidentified assailant killed a man in Rohtas district. The murder took place in the Muradabad area, under the jurisdiction of the Muffasil police station, following an ongoing dispute related to land transactions. The victim, identified as Hasan Raza Khan, was attacked while riding his motorcycle. Reports suggest that he was surrounded and assaulted with sharp weapons.
The attack left him severely injured on the roadside, ultimately proving fatal. After a post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to his family. The incident has created a tense and somber atmosphere in the area. Police acted swiftly, arriving at the scene to initiate an investigation.
Subsequently, a raid was conducted at a garage in Muradabad, where two country-made pistols and two live cartridges were recovered. The victim’s motorcycle has also been seized as part of the investigation. So far, five suspects have been detained, including a minor and three women, with all being questioned.
Meanwhile, officials continue their investigation to uncover the full sequence of events and identify all individuals involved. The community remains in shock, with a palpable sense of silence and fear lingering in the air.
