Violence Erupts During Bengaluru Teacher Constituency Voting; FIR Filed Against Five
Five individuals face FIRs after clashes between Congress and BJP workers during Bengalurus teacher constituency election voting.

Bengaluru, October 24 (Daily Kiran) : Clashes erupted during the voting for the Bengaluru Teacher Constituency on October 24, leading to an FIR against five individuals. The complaint was lodged by BJP leader and former councilor Govindaraju at the Annapurneshwari Nagar police station.
The altercation occurred on Friday near Ambedkar College in the Rajarajeshwari Nagar assembly area, where Congress and BJP workers clashed. Govindaraju alleged that Congress activists attacked him. The police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
Following the clash, BJP leaders and supporters protested at the scene, demanding justice for Govindaraju and legal action against those responsible. They expressed concern over the incident during the election process.
Tensions escalated further when BJP MLA Muniratna arrived at the site. Congress workers surrounded him, allegedly tearing his clothes and chanting derogatory slogans, which sparked additional clashes between supporters of both parties. Police intervened to restore order and prevent further violence.
Muniratna criticized Congress leadership, particularly former MP D.K. Suresh and his brother, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar. He claimed that since Suresh’s defeat in the Bengaluru Rural Lok Sabha elections, Congress workers have been targeting him with orchestrated personal attacks. These allegations have not been independently verified.
The Bengaluru Teacher Constituency election has seen heightened political rivalry, with the BJP-JD(S) NDA alliance fielding A.P. Ranganath against Congress candidate Puttanna. The ongoing rivalry between Muniratna and the Shivakumar brothers has previously led to public altercations.
The police continue to investigate the complaints related to Friday’s incident.
