Patna, April 24: A violent incident involving police officers has occurred in the East Champaran district of Bihar. This clash escalated into a serious law and order crisis during an anti-encroachment operation. Footage of the event has quickly gone viral on social media.
According to an official, the incident took place at Karamwa Chowk, under the jurisdiction of the Dhaka police station. Police officers were on-site to remove alleged encroachments along a road being constructed under the Bharatmala project.
However, tensions between the police team and local villagers rapidly escalated, leading to unrest. During the operation, some miscreants began throwing stones at police vehicles, forcing officers to retreat from the scene.
In the chaos, a guard who arrived at the location was surrounded by a group of villagers. The crowd reportedly attacked him and attempted to drag him into a nearby house. Fortunately, some responsible locals intervened in time and rescued the guard from the violent mob, though he sustained injuries.
This incident has raised serious concerns regarding the safety of law enforcement personnel during ground operations. Following the video’s online circulation, attention has shifted to the police administration, and it remains to be seen what actions will be taken against those involved in the attack.
Earlier, on April 20, a police team was attacked by locals while attempting to apprehend a fugitive in Jamui. An official stated that the incident occurred around 10 AM when the police team arrived in Khairma village to capture Dhibu Yadav, who was evading arrest in several criminal cases.
As the police approached to arrest him near a brick kiln close to the Khairma bridge, the accused allegedly attacked the officers with family members and associates. The assailants used sticks, rods, bricks, and stones, resulting in serious injuries to two sub-inspectors and one constable. Despite the attack, the police team successfully apprehended the suspect.
