Vinod Tawde Expresses Gratitude for Rajya Sabha Candidacy in Maharashtra

Mumbai, March 4: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections in Maharashtra. Among the four leaders nominated is National General Secretary Vinod Tawde, who has expressed his gratitude to the party leadership for his candidacy.

In a post on the social media platform X, Tawde wrote, “Endless gratitude and thanks! Heartfelt appreciation to the top leadership for being nominated as a candidate for the Rajya Sabha by the Central Election Committee of the party! Under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of National President Nitin Nawin, we are committed to the nation’s interests at every moment. I extend my sincere thanks to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and State President Ravindra Chavan for this nomination!”

He added that he is determined and committed to fulfilling this new responsibility with complete dedication and loyalty.

The BJP’s list also includes Ramdas Athawale, Maya Chintaman Iwanate, and Ramrao Kudkute.

Earlier, on Tuesday, the BJP released a list of nine candidates for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections, including National President Nitin Nawin from Bihar, along with Shivesh Kumar; Terash Gowala and Jogen Mohan from Assam; Lakshmi Verma from Chhattisgarh; Sanjay Bhatia from Haryana; Manmohan Samal and Sujit Kumar from Odisha; and Rahul Sinha from West Bengal.

On February 18, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule for the biennial elections to fill 37 vacant seats from 10 states in the Rajya Sabha. According to the commission, voting will take place on March 16 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with counting scheduled for the same day at 5:00 PM. The term of 37 elected members from the Rajya Sabha will end in April 2026.

In anticipation of the upcoming vacancies, the commission has prepared a detailed timetable for the electoral process. The election notification was issued on February 26, with the last date for filing nominations set for March 5, and scrutiny of nomination papers scheduled for March 6.
